In this post we will cover how to open Jackloc without a key. There are 5 window restrictors in the Jackloc range and two of these are keyless window restrictors. However, all 5 of our window restrictors enable windows to be opened to a maximum of 100mm without using a key. This enables fresh air to be let into a room, without the risk of falling or unauthorised entry.

To open a Jackloc-secured window without a key to the restricted 100mm simply open the window using the window handle as you would if there was no restrictor in place.

If you are specifically looking for a window restrictor without a key choose either the Perma window lock or the Pro-Twist. We will take these two in turn so that you can determine which option will best meet your needs.

Pro-Twist Keyless Window Restrictor

The keyless Jackloc Pro-Twist can be opened without a key.  To open the window restrictor wider than the restricted 100mm a push and twist mechanism is used and in this way the window can be fully opened without a key.

The Pro-twist window restrictor has two ‘body’ compartments, one is attached to the fixed frame, cill or wall and the other part to the opening window frame.

The Jacloc Pro-Twist is an excellent cable window restrictor for those with pets, residential homes, offices and for ground floor situations, in which the window might want to be opened wider than 100mm without the need for a key.

There are numerous reasons for why you might want to open a window wider than 100mm; perhaps when a vulnerable person is not in the space and you want to clean the windows, or because the window is at ground floor level and doesn’t pose a fall risk but you have the lock in place for security reasons.

The health benefits of opening windows are now even more widely understood due to the Covid pandemic.

The Pro-Twist is also popular amongst those who are unable to safely secure a key or who have a window lock in place for a person who might be able to over-ride a push and twist mechanism and accidentally fall or forget to close the window.

Perma Keyless Window Restrictor

The Jackloc Perma is a keyless cable window restrictor, also called a cable window lock. The Perma is fitted in the same way as the Pro-Twist, but this Jackloc can’t be over-ridden.

The Perma restricts the opening of a window to 100mm at all times. There’s no key or push and twist mechanism for over-riding this. The only way to open the window further than 100mm is to remove the window restrictor with a screwdriver.

The Jacloc Perma is an excellent option for institutions that have a duty of care to prevent falls from windows, such as hospitals, care homes, schools and hotels. In these settings the windows will only be opened without a key to a maximum of 100mm.

The Perma is also popular amongst those who are unable to safely secure a key or who have a window lock in place for a person who might be able to over-ride a push and twist mechanism and accidentally fall or forget to close the window.
