How do you make sure you have the most secure windows for your home? Read on to find out…

20% of burglaries in England and Wales are through windows. When considering the most secure window style this would be the casement window because, with no way to turn the crank from the outside, there is very little opportunity for an intruder to enter your home through the window if you are sure to close and lock it. The most secure window material is aluminium which is inherently strong and resistant to forced entry and, of course, double or triple glazing will provide greater security.

However, a window that is not locked is always vulnerable and accessible to burglars. Burglars will always choose the easiest targets such as homes that have no locks or weak locks on their windows. You wouldn’t leave a door unlocked and the same should go for windows, and not just ground floor ones.  Burglars are happy to climb ladders to access an aluminium framed, triple glazed, casement window with a weak lock.

However, you can make sure that your home is an unappealing target for burglars by opting for the most secure window locks available. Even if a burglar does approach your home they will soon pass by once they realise the level of effort and risk involved and they’ll move on to an easier, less risky target.

What is the most secure window lock?

The Titan window restrictor is the most secure window restrictor commercially available. It has been awarded the most respected security certifications. The Titan’s most recent accreditation is from the official police security initiative ‘Secured by Design’. This accreditation was awarded in recognition of the Titan window lock’s strength and its effectiveness at preventing crime.

The police Secured by Design product accreditation scheme is a recognised standard for security products that can deter and reduce crime. Products are assessed for their their design, use, quality control and the ability to deter or prevent crime – and these products or services are known as being of a ‘Police Preferred Specification’.

Police Preferred Specification ensures that products have been independently tested to a relevant security standard and fully certified by an independent third-party.  In addition, it requires regular re-testing and annual inspection of the manufacturing facility to ensure quality and performance are maintained.

The other certification attesting to the effectiveness of the Titan is the Sold Secure approval. This product certification is awarded by the Master Locksmiths Association and indicates that a product is approved as effective at preventing theft. The Titan was awarded Sold Secure status and is the only window locking device to be awarded the certification.

Independently tested and approved

Eric Collins, Jackloc Managing Director commented, “When we designed the Titan by Jackloc we wanted it to be stronger and more secure than anything on the market and to provide total peace of mind to our customers.  We are absolutely delighted to be the only commercially available window restrictor to have been awarded Secured by Design status, giving total reassurance and confidence to our customers for the security of the opening windows in their properties.”

In summary, the most secure windows for your home and family are casement windows fitted with the Jackloc Titan.
